Oceans are among the most valuable natural resources of our planet. However, with an ever-increasing population and industrialization, marine pollution has become a serious problem. Knowing these challenges, MTS Logistics held its forth annual Clean Oceans Project (called Temiz Deniz Projesi in Turkish) in Seferihisar, Izmir, Turkey this past Sunday, October 6th. We aimed this event at raising environmental awareness and educating the future leaders of tomorrow: today’s children.
Our Educational Content and Objectives
During the event, children received training on keeping the world’s oceans clean, as well as sustainability, carbon footprints, and recycling. These educational sessions sought to enhance the environmental consciousness of young generations and develop their sensitivity towards ecological issues.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of reducing the use of single-use plastics, and practical solutions were provided to the participants. Environmental specialist and published author Akın Erdoğan of Zeytin Okulu spoke at the event. He and his team also held a seed ball making class. Transforming seeds into balls and leaving them in nature instills a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
Advocating Against Single-Use Plastics
An essential part of our event involved measures to prevent the use of single-use plastics. Participants were given specially-designed water bottles at the entrance. Additionally, we provided water dispensers throughout the event area to meet the children’s hydration needs without generating plastic waste. This initiative contributed to raising awareness of sustainability and protecting nature.
Healthy Eating
As part of the event, MTS Logistics also provided breakfast and lunch. Ensuring that the food was healthy and nutritious increased children’s motivation to participate. Moreover, we opted for recyclable packaging, adopting an environmentally-friendly approach.

Individuals educated about environmental issues at a young age can integrate this knowledge into their lives and have the potential to create change in society. With this event, which we hold annually, we aim to increase environmental awareness and reach more children. In the coming years, we plan to expand the scope of our event to reach more participants.
