Alison graduated from Barnard College, New York, in May 2011 with a B.A. in American History. She has been working at MTS since June 2011, as an Assistant of Sales.
Fun Fact:. Alison wrote her senior thesis on the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. She loves watching baseball and is a huge NY Mets fan!
Alysia Mercedes Xirinachs was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She completed her Bachelor’s degrees in Spanish Language and Literature and English Literature at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. Her passion for languages brought her to Italy, where she lived for 8 months studying Italian in Rome. Alysia previously worked for Mediterranean Shipping Company in Charleston, SC as a VIP Accounts Manager and Analyst. Currently she is working as an Operations Specialist at MTS Logistics, Inc. since February 2017.
Anna has a master degree from the State University of Management in Moscow with the specialization in International Logistics. She moved to NYC in 2009 to continue the education in Baruch where she received graduate certificate in International Trade; Export/Import Operations. From that time on she has worked for different NVOCC and joined MTS in January 2013.
Aret is a guest author on our blog. After graduating from the the Middle East Technical University in 1975, Aret Tasciyan commenced his Marine Insurance career as a P and I Correspondent and Lloyd’s Agent in Istanbul. To respond to the demands from The Turkish Shipping Community he has diverted towards brokering in 1984. Tasciyan was among the first members of Assembly of The Turkish Chamber of Shipping and represented Turkey in International Chamber of Shipping for several years. He has lectured Marine Insurance Courses in University of Istanbul, Shipping Management Graduate level program between 1988 and 1990. He then moved to USA in 1991 and while managing the New York branch of a well known broking firm he joined forces with OMNI in 1996. During his career, over the years, he has proved himself to be a highly respected veteran of Marine Insurance in the Global Markets.
Aytac Akgul was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. He got his Master’s Degree in International Transportation Management from State University of New York - Maritime College in December, 2012 and He got his bachelor of science degree in Transportation and Logistics from Istanbul University in June, 2010. He previously worked for Maersk Line in Istanbul, Turkey. He is now working for MTS Logistics, Inc. as a Business Development Manager since May 2015.
Belma is originally from Turkey, and she has been with MTS Logistics for 8 years. She currently holds a position as a Sales Executive. She graduated from Cukurova University, Business Administration in Adana. She has attended import and export classes at WTI and has 12 years experience working in the Logistics Industry.
Fun Fact: Belma does portrait sketching, and can sketch just about anything with a piece of charcoal or a pencil!
Bryan was born and raised in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. In 2004, he came to United States to pursue his Bachelors Degree in Finance at West Virginia University. He then started working in logistics field in year 2007 and he is currently working at MTS Logistics Export department.
Snowboarding and Tennis are Bryan's favorite sport.
Burak was born and raised in Emirgan, a small village located at the western shores of Bosporus in Istanbul. He has been in the shipping business for over 20 years. He worked on ships, at ports and various areas around the world taking care of various cargo operations, mainly break bulk cargo.
He is an entrepreneur and holds a masters degree in international maritime transportation management from State University of New York.
Fun fact: At the age of ten, while he was fishing with his small rod in his hometown, he saw gigantic tankers passing along the Bosporus. Wondering how these giant steel-made structures can stay afloat, it was when he decided to learn about shipping.
Canan is our Import Operations Manager. She is originally from Turkey, and studied Business Administration at Gazi University in Ankara. She then attended Solihull College in England for language and business studies. Canan has been working in the shipping industry since 2002, and has been with MTS Logistics since 2011.
Fun fact: Canan's nickname in the office is Speedy Gonzales! She is allegedly faster than lightning.
Ceyhun Sahinkaya is originally from Istanbul, Turkey, but he has been living in the U.S. since 2008. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Istanbul University. After he came to the U.S., he studied International Trade at Baruch College, then he completed his education by studying for an MBA at Goldey–Beacom College. He has been with MTS Logistics since 2017, where he works as an Export Operation Specialist. Fun Fact: Ceyhun loves soccer - he plays pick-up games at least once a week and watches every single soccer game that is out there.
Cuneyt worked as an underwriter for an insurance company in Istanbul after he acquired his BSc in Industrial Engineering at Yildiz Tech.University. He moved to the US in 2005, and has worked for MTS Logistics since. He was recently promoted to Comptroller at MTS. Cuneyt holds a MSc in Accountancy from the University of Phoenix.

Danny works in our Ocean Import Department, handling ocean FCL/LCL imports and air freight. He is a true New Yorker, and is fluent in french and spanish. Danny attended the United Nations International School in Manhattan, and earned a B.S. in International Business from Fairfield University. He is certified in International Trade Management/Import Operations from The World Academy in New York.
Danny has been with MTS since August, 2011 and he has many years of experience in the shipping industry, handling exports for major petroleum companies and Customs Brokerage handling imports for major wearing apparel company.
Fun Fact: Danny has a passion and talent for doing impressions. He does a mean Al Pacino, but tell him do to any character and he will blow your mind!
Dimitri was born and raised in Greece. He studied Shipping and Transport at London Guildhall University and graduated in 2000. He is also a licensed customs broker and had his own firm back in Greece for over 13 years. He came to New York and started working for MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) as an export line manager in 2015. He is now working as a Sales Executive for MTS Logistics since the beginning of 2017.
Ed Marsh has in-depth experience on a number of continents, in various capacities and industries. He founded and managed a start-up in India; successfully built channels throughout Latin America; leveraged his German birth and marriage to a German national in his extensive work in Western Europe and has deep cultural experience with Vietnam. Ed's B2B and B2G pan-global experience has involved a variety of products and services including capital equipment, industrial automation, distribution services and homeland security and defense technology. He is a Founder and Principal at Consilium Global Business Advisors.
Elizabeth is a Marine Engineer and Naval Architect graduated from the Technological Institute of Athens, Greece. She has experienced the shipping industry by working for two ship management companies in Greece. In both cases, she was hired by the Purchasing Department. For the last year, she has been living in New York. She started her career in New York by working as a sales engineer, and Naval Architect, in a small suppliers company. Currently, she works as a Export Documentation coordinator for MTS Logistics.
Eric Yeung is the Vice President of Sino Connections Logistics Inc. He graduated from City University of Hong Kong and holds over 15 years of experience in the freight forwarding industry. Eric founded Sino Connections Logistics Inc. in 1998, and Sino now has 8 offices in China and Thailand with around 100 employees in total.
Ethan is originally from China. He studied Computer Information Systems (CIS) at City Tech College in New York. Ethan has been working in the logistics industry since 2006. He joined MTS Logistics in December 2011, and is now one of our Import Operations Managers.
Fun Fact: Ethan loves snowboarding, in fact he goes snowboarding various times each winter until the last bits of snow melt.
Feray Yuksekbas Kavas was raised in Turkey. She graduated from Istanbul University Business Administration then she moved to New York .She attended to International Business Certificate Program under Continuing and Professional Studies at Baruch College. As soon as completed this program she started to work with MTS Logistics. Now she is working as Sales Executive at MTS Logistics Inc.
Gorkem Geylani is working for MTS Logistics since December 2011 as an export specialist. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Penn State University. He is a sports enthusiast and is also very interested in finance and technology. He spends his spare time on gastronomy, cooking and music (playing guitar)
Gozde was born and raised in Turkey, where she got her B.S. in Economics from the University of Cankaya. She then moved to the U.S to pursue an MBA with an International Trade concentration at Johnson & Wales University in 2012. Gozde has been with MTS since May 2012, and works in our import department.
Ilyas is originally from Istanbul. He got his Associates degree in International Trade at Cumhuriyet University in Sivas, his Bachelor’s degree in Banking at Marmara University in Istanbul, and his Master’s degree in Global Business and Finance at Brooklyn College in New York. He has been with MTS since October 2011.
Irmak was born and raised in Ankara, Turkey. She attended to a dual diploma program and got her bachelor’s degree in business administration from both Middle East Technical University and Binghamton University. She is currently getting her master’s degree in Project Management. She has been in the logistics industry since June 2016.
Kendra was born and raised in Queens, New York, and has Ecuadorian and Yugoslavian descent. She graduated from Baruch College with a B.A. in Psychology in 2010, and is currently pursuing an MSc in Mental Health Counseling. Kendra has been with MTS since September 2010, in our sales department.
Lauga is originally from Iceland, and is our Sales and Marketing Executive. She has been with MTS since May 2011. Lauga has experience as a Sales Manager for a large fitness corporation in Oslo, Norway before she moved to New York in 2009, where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business Management at Berkeley.
Fun Fact: Lauga played professional soccer for 5 years in Norway, and also played for the Icelandic National Team as a goalkeeper! She played two seasons for the Berkeley College mens team, as their starting goalie and was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the season in 2010.
Linda Berke has over 25 years’ experience in consulting, training and coaching. Prior to Taylor Performance Solutions, Ms. Berke was a Corporate Training Manager for two global financial institutions. While in these positions, her initiatives and training programs resulted in increased sales, improved customer satisfaction, increased employee satisfaction and expense reduction.
Ms. Berke founded Taylor Performance Solutions in 2003 and her team specializes in developing customized learning experiences for businesses and individuals who want to increase sales, improve service, become more productive or improve management skills. Her team has experience in multiple industries and works with business with anywhere from 20 to 10,000 employees.
Ms. Berke was featured on the Long Island, New York News 12 show Jobline that focused on “Enhancing Your Skills in the Workplace – Moving Up the Corporate Ladder” and has been featured in multiple Newsday and Long Island Business News articles. Lora was born and raised in Turkey. After graduating from Notre Dame De Sion in Istanbul, she got her bachelor degree in Labor Economics & Industrial Relations from University of Marmara. In 1997, she came to New Jersey to continue her education at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her last stop was in New York at Parsons The new School of Design. She speaks Turkish, French, English, Armenian fluently. She has been living in New York since 1999. Lora’s background is in active sales for the international freight forwarding industry. She is Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MTS Logistics Inc and has been with MTS for almost 11 years.
Fun Fact: Lora was a professional swimmer, and competed at the highest level in Istanbul.
Loraine works in our sales departement, and has been with MTS Logistics since June of this year. She is currently studying International Marketing at Baruch College, and will graduate with a BBA in May 2012.
Fun Fact: Loraine used to be a ballerina! She studied ballet for 8 years, until the age of 16.
Luiz Gustavo Cruz, CBPP is a former merchant marine deck officer and holds a BSc in Nautical Sciences at the Merchant Marine Academy EFOMM in Rio de Janeiro and a BSc. in Industrial Engineering at Rio de Janeiro State University. Today he works as senior engineer for the fleet operations branch of Vale’s (Brazilian mining company) shipping department and is undergoing a Diploma in Ship Management specializing in Fleet Technical Management at Lloyd’s Maritime Academy, UK.
Can is originally from Turkey, where he got a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at Koc University in Istanbul. After working 5 years at MTS Turkey, he moved to Hong Kong as an MTS Representative, where he stayed 2 years working on Asia Development of the group. After Hong Kong, he came to MTS New York. He is currently the Vice President of Business Development and Export Manager at MTS Logistics, Inc.
Fun Fact: Can (read as John in Turkish) is a HUGE soccer fan, and Besiktas is his team. Despite the fact that he has been living abroad since 2005, he follows each and every game religiously!
Marc Holder was born and raised in Dallas, TX. He graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor’s in Business Management. His career in logistics began in 2013 with one of the major Steam Ship Lines, Evergreen Shipping. This is where he learned the fundamentals of ocean shipping as a Vessel Coordinator. Marc then joined the sales team for U.S. Imports/Exports in the Gulf Region. He has now been working at MTS Logistics as a Sales Executive since September 2019. Marc believes in providing great customer service and attention to detail. Fun Fact: Marc loves playing baseball, basketball and hiking new trails.
Mark was born in the Philippines and raised in NY. He got his B.S. in Aviation Administration specializing on Airport and Airline Operation from SUNY Farmingdale. Mark has been in freight forwarding business since March 2013, he started as an Export Operation Specialist and now works as a Sales Executive for MTS.
Fun Fact: Mark has written a cookbook and numerous restaurant reviews, he also moonlights as a professional baker and a musician. Mark was also a recreational pilot and still terrified of heights.
Melike is originally from Turkey, where she earned a BA from Istanbul University. She has extensive experience in sales, both in the US and internationally, and eventually established her own business which she managed for 2 years. Finally she moved back to Los Angeles, and has been with MTS since August 2011.
Meryem Goksu Kaya, who worked at MTS Logistics between 2015 to end of 2018, is originally from Turkey. Meryem Goksu graduated from Middle East Technical University with a Business Administration degree. She came to the U.S. in 2012 to complete a Dual Diploma Program at The State University of New York at Binghamton. Right after her graduation in 2015, she started working at MTS Logistics as an Import Documentation Specialist. At the same time she continued her education at New York University and got a Digital Marketing Certificate in 2016. In 2016 Meryem Goksu became promoted to Documentation Department Manager and continued her post graduate education at Harvard University Extension School with Digital Media Design. In 2017 Meryem Goksu became promoted to Import Development Manager and she graduated with her masters in 2020.
Methela works in our sales department, and has been with MTS since March of 2012. She graduated from Baruch College majoring in Corporate Communications and minoring in Psychology.
Fun fact: Methela used to be a freelance model. She has been featured on the Bengali TV channel NTV, and on the Food Network in Throw Down with Bobby Flay!
Michael was born and raised in Wisconsin, where he got his bachelors degree in business management from Cardinal Stritch University. Michael’s background is in sales for the packaging and international transportation industry. He joined the MTS Logistics team in March of 2011 and works from his home office as a sales representative covering the Midwest USA.
Fun Fact: Michael and his wife have done the Lake Michigan Circle Tour on their Harley motorcycles!
Michele was born and raised in Italy and spent most of his early years in Bologna, a nice and vibrant city in northern Italy. He graduated from the University of Bologna with a master’s degree in industrial Engineering with a specialization in Logistics and Production in 2007. Michele worked for a French-based Corporation in Bologna for almost 6 years as Project Manager. In January 2014, Michele moved to the U.S. for a fresh start in New York, and worked for 3 years for one of the major Steam Ship Lines as an Export Commercial Liner, in North European trade. He started at MTS Logistics in January 2017 as Sales Executive. Michele is currently covering and developing several areas: Texas, New York/New Jersey, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
His first priority is to create strong relationships based on trust, competence, and honesty. Michele loves to travel and does so for at least twice monthly to meet his customers/prospects in person to hear face-to-face how he can help them by providing the best service possible. Fun Fact: Michele, despite being Italian, loves basketball (watching and playing) instead of soccer and the NBA is his secret passion.
Monica is originally from Ecuador, and has been with MTS Logistics for 3 years as an Export Operations Specialist. She got her BBA from Bernard Baruch College in New York.
Fun Fact: Monica loves basketball, and she can attempt 10 3 pointers with a 80% chance to make all baskets!
Naomi has years of experience in the Supply Chain field, working in procurement, logistics and contract management for an Oil and Gas Exploration company in Nairob, supporting operations in Northern Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
Nergis is the Import Operations Manager at MTS Logistics, and has been with us since 2004. She is originally from Istanbul, where she graduated from Istanbul University majoring in Tourism & Hotel Management.
Nezih was born and raised in Turkey, where he got his Bachelor’s Degree in Econometrics from Uludag University. He moved to the U.S. in 2010 to get his MBA at Wilmington University. Nezih has been working in the logistics industry since 2014. Fun Fact: Nezih is a huge sports fan and has been following NBA since he was a little kid. He still believes that one day the Knicks will be as good as they were during the 1998-1999 season.
Onur was born and raised in Turkey, where he got his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Onur worked as a Logistic Manager for a garment importing company for 10 years before joining MTS. He has been working in sales at MTS Logistics since February 2008. Having been on the other side as a logistics manager for a garment importing company helps him to understand what customers need from a logistics partner, especially for time sensitive cargoes like garment.
Fun Fact: Onur loves skiing and soccer!
Orkun is originally from Turkey and raised in the southern coastal city of Mersin, well known for its warm weather, and commercial marine port and free zone. Orkun’s interest in the shipping industry can be traced back to his childhood and his proximity to Mersin Port and free zone operations. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Global and International Affairs from Binghamton University. Orkun also holds a Bachelor’s degree in international relations from Middle East Technical University Ankara. He previously worked for a global container shipping line and a New York City based freight forwarder holding various positions in operations, customer service, and sales.
Orkun is currently our award-winning sales executive covering and developing several areas: Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and New York. He travels to each of these locations every month to meet his clients, prospective clients and vendors in-person to ensure harmonious supply chains. Due to his operational background in the shipping industry, his clients appreciate his knowledge as value in their supply chain and lean on his expertise. His customer service background ensures that his clients experience a very pleasant shipping experience based on open communication, proactivity, and the satisfaction of selecting the right service. Orkun is a firm believer in trust built from the promise and delivery. He tailor fits the service specifically for each of his clients, covering all their special expectations and requirements.
Fun Facts: His parents tricked him to taking classical music education and piano lessons since the age of 6. In time, he turned his attention onto other musical instruments and genres, but this eventually turned him into a music nerd playing several instruments. In his spare time, he plays piano, guitar, and drums, and goes to concerts.
Pascal has over a decade of experience in the logistics industry, and holds several degrees' in Economics and Logistics. He is currently the Secretary at the European Logistics Centre Limburg, as well as Project Manager at the Limburg Chamber of Commerce and EU Logistics Hub. Pascal is also a part-time lecturer of Strategy, Logistics and Supply Chain Management at graduate and postgraduate levels.
Pradeep is the Country Head & Executive Director of Ahlers India. Originally from the Kerala province in India, he has close to 15 years of experience in the Shipping & Logistics industry. Pradeep has spearheaded the business development of Ahlers between India & the US along with MTS Logistics since 2006.
Rojda is originally from Turkey and after getting his BA from Koc University in Istanbul, he moved to New York to get his MBA at Baruch College. He has been working at MTS Logistics since 2003 and has held many positions from Operations to Development Manager. He is currently residing in Los Angeles where he is the Managing Director of MTS.
Fun Fact(s): Rojda is an avid golfer, a martial art practitioner, and a motorcyclist!
Sara was born in Iran and raised in New York City. After pursuing a BBA in Entrepreneurship at CUNY Baruch College, she began working at MTS Logistics’ Export Operations Department in 2015. Since then, Sara contributes as an Assistant Manager for the Commodities division. Over the years, she has always been willing to provide the best personalized service to MTS Logistics’ valuable customers.
Fun Fact: Sara has a passion for cooking and trying different cuisines ever since her childhood. For two years, she assisted in teaching cooking techniques to high school students to promote healthy eating and encourage home cooking.
Mr. Sedat Saka is the President of MTS Logistics, Inc., the New York-based logistics company founded in 2000. With his energy, initiative, courage, and strong leadership, Mr. Saka has grown MTS Logistics to be one of the top logistics companies in the United States, with growth in all markets globally, and offices in NYC and LA. His leadership helped MoreThanShipping.com become one of the world's top logistics and transport blogs.
He has a degree from ITU Merchant Marine Academy, where he graduated in 1986, and a Shipping & MBA degree from Istanbul University, where he graduated in 1990.
Serkan Kavas was born and raised in Turkey. He graduated from Dokuz Eylul University with a Degree in Business Administration in 2001.
He had an internship in Germany at a major industrial company after college. He worked at their family business in Turkey and managed their exports from Turkey to Europe.
He moved to the U.S. to continue his education in New York and obtained his MBA degree with International Business concentration at New York Institute of Technology in 2005.
After graduation he was recruited by MTS Logistics and he has been working at the company since 2005. Serkan worked his way up from the entry level to operations manager and to his current position as our VP of Imports at MTS Logistics. He wears different hats daily with different responsibilities. He has vast knowledge, experience, and understanding of all aspects of logistics, freight, and the supply chain. His focus now is to help develop our import department and help our company move forward.
Originally from Shanghai, China, Sheng came to the U.S. at the tender age of 5. He studied Business Management at Baruch College, and worked at China Airlines Cargo from 2008 until 2015, handling both import and export cargo. He started working at MTS Logistics in 2015. With almost 10 years in the industry, Sheng is ready for the next 10 years with his vast knowledge in both Air & Ocean cargo. He is an avid traveler, having visited over 20 countries. He loves the UFC and watches every single event.
Suzan was born in New Jersey and raised in Turkey. She moved back to the States after graduating from high school in Turkey, and earned her Bachelors Degree in Economics from Rutgers University. She later attended Mandarin courses at Jilin University, and international relations courses in Columbia University, New York. Suzan has been with MTS Logistics since August 2012, and works in our Sales Department.
Todd is the Vice President at Gulf Winds International. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.S. in Marketing and immediately joined Gulf Winds International in 1996. Beginning as a fork-lift operator, Todd has served in every position in the company, leading to his current position of Vice President. He is responsible for all areas of management, reporting to the President and Executive Vice President. Currently his primary responsibility is the day-to-day overseeing of Business Development, Customer Service, Transportation Services, and IT development
Tugce was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. Her educational background includes both Business Administration and Art History. Before that, she had studied classical music. She has been in the logistics industry since October 2015.
Utku, originally from Ankara, Turkey is our Imports Operations Manager at MTS Logistics. He graduated from both METU & SUNY Binghamton with a dual diploma in Business Administration & Management. After his graduation in 2014, he started working as an operation specialist and worked his way up to becoming an Operations Manager. Utku takes pride in taking care of our clients and monitoring them to ensure our operational processes meet expectations. His attention to detail ensures that our customers are well-informed and left with no questions. Fun Fact: Utku is a film photography enthusiast and enjoys going to various art shows.
Virgilia is part of the MTS Logistics Business Development Department. Born in Romania, Virgilia studied German and French Linguistics at three prestigious universities: Ludwig Maximilian’s University Munich, Friedrich Wilchelm University Bonn, and West University and graduated the Global Training Program on Economy and Politics at the German Bundestag. She moved to New York to pursue a twelve year career in fashion as a Brand Ambassador for Versace and Dolce & Gabbana. In 2015 a trip to Silicon Valley inspired her to start a new career as a Business and Branding strategy consultant. Her portfolio includes several industries: real estate advisory, medical, finance, industrial design, fashion, art, sports and technology. In 2015 she published a book titled The Quest to the American Dream. As a media contributor she is collaborating with The Hedonist Magazine and Arianna Huffington’s Thrive Global and has conducted interviews for the YouTube Studios. She is fluent in four languages: German, French, Romanian, English.
Originally from Atlanta, Will traveled to Kings Point, New York to earn his bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. After leaving the Academy, Will began his supply chain career in Miami, Florida, and from there continued on in Louisiana, Mississippi and now Texas. While working for the Port of Houston Authority, Will obtained his Masters in Global Supply Chain and Logistics from Syracuse University.
Will Whitehouse joined the Port of Houston Authority as the Trade Development Manager in April 2010. He is responsible for working with all partners in the Electronic Goods, Petrochemical, General Department Store Merchandise, Apparel, Footwear, and Furniture markets, to develop, maintain and grow business within the Greater Houston Area. He currently handles the entire Eastern United States and Asia to help promote business for the Port of Houston, and after having success with companies such as Exxon Mobil, Igloo, Rooms to Go and The Home Depot was moved to the role of Senior Trade Development Manager.

Zeynep was born and raised in Turkey. She got her bachelor degree in Labor Economics & Industrial Relations from Uludag University.
In 2008, she came to USA to continue her education and started her master degree at Johnson and Wales University in Global Business.
Zeynep has been working with MTS since 2012 as an import specialist.
Fun Fact: Zeynep used to be a folk dance teacher in Turkey. Now, she is practicing Tango and Swing dances.
